The most requested granites in Broward and Palm Beach kitchens shift with design trends, but certain slabs have staying power. Mid-tone options like Fantasy Brown, River White, and Typhoon Bordeaux offer veining that mimics the marble look without marble's maintenance concerns. Sealing and maintenance in humid climates
Granite is porous and requires periodic sealing to prevent staining—this is the one maintenance step that separates it from engineered quartz. In South Florida's humidity, we recommend sealing annually for kitchen surfaces and every 18 months for bathrooms. The process takes fifteen minutes and uses a wipe-on impregnating sealer that does not change the stone's appearance. Darker, denser granites like Absolute Black may only need sealing every two to three years, while lighter, more open-grained stones need it more frequently. We seal every granite countertop on installation day and provide a sealer bottle with care instructions so you know exactly what to use and when.
When granite beats the alternatives
Granite outperforms quartz in heat resistance and UV stability, which makes it suitable for outdoor kitchens, grill surrounds, and sun-exposed bar tops where quartz would degrade. It outperforms marble in scratch resistance and acid tolerance—granite will not etch from lemon juice or vinegar the way marble and some soft quartzites will. Price-wise, many granite colors install for $45 to $75 per square foot, undercutting comparable engineered quartz options by 20 to 30 percent. The trade-off is the sealing requirement and the fact that no two slabs match perfectly, which can be a concern for very large kitchens needing multiple slabs with visual continuity.

Granite fabrication starts with slab selection at a local distributor. We accompany clients or send detailed photos with measurements overlaid so you can see exactly which section of the slab becomes your island versus your perimeter. Once the slab is reserved, we template your space with digital laser tools, program the cuts, and fabricate in our Pompano Beach shop. Granite requires careful handling during edge profiling because natural fissures can propagate if forced—our operators know where to slow the tooling and how to reinforce any natural inclusions with epoxy before cutting. After fabrication, we dry-fit, inspect, and transport with A-frame racks to prevent flexing during delivery.
