The Challenge
High-rise condo installations carry unique logistical constraints—elevator reservations, building management coordination, COI insurance requirements, and limited staging areas. The Calacatta Gold slabs weighed over 900 pounds each and needed to reach a 38th-floor unit via freight elevator during approved construction windows.
Our Approach
We coordinated a three-week installation plan with the building's property management, securing dedicated freight elevator access and hallway protection. The Calacatta Gold slabs were selected from the same quarry block for vein continuity, and all cuts were pre-planned in our Pompano Beach facility to minimize on-site fabrication. The mitered waterfall edge was assembled with structural adhesive and color-matched epoxy for an invisible seam.
The Result
A jaw-dropping penthouse kitchen where the Calacatta Gold marble competes with the Atlantic Ocean for the most dramatic view in the room. The client reported that the kitchen became the focal point of every gathering.
Project Details
This Sunny Isles Beach penthouse kitchen represents the intersection of luxury materials and high-rise logistics. The homeowner had admired Calacatta Gold marble for years and wanted it as the defining surface throughout an open-concept kitchen that opens directly to floor-to-ceiling ocean views. The challenge was not just aesthetic—it was operational. Getting 900-pound slabs to the 38th floor of a Sunny Isles tower required precise coordination with building management, freight elevator scheduling, and hallway protection protocols. Our team handled the full COI process, coordinated with the general contractor on timing, and executed the installation over two days during the building's approved construction window. The Calacatta Gold itself was selected for its dramatic gold and grey veining on a bright white base. We book-matched the waterfall panels to create a continuous vein flow from the horizontal island surface down through both waterfall sides. The matching full-slab backsplash behind the cooktop carries the same material story from island to wall. The result is a kitchen that holds its own against one of South Florida's most spectacular ocean panoramas.
