The Challenge
The homeowner wanted a continuous material story from vanity top through the full backsplash. Seam placement on the backsplash required coordinating the veining direction across multiple pieces cut from the same slab.
Our Approach
We booked matched slabs from the same lot and planned all cuts to carry the dominant vein through the vanity top and up the backsplash as a continuous line. Honed finish was specified to minimize the appearance of any water spots and light scratching over daily use.

A cohesive, spa-quality primary bathroom surface that photographs as a single flowing material from counter to wall.
Project Details
This Rio Vista primary bathroom renovation centered on using honed Calacatta marble as the primary surface material for both the double vanity top and full-height slab backsplash. The key challenge was visual continuity—the homeowner wanted the veining to feel intentional across both surfaces, not arbitrary. By booking sequential slabs from the same block and planning all cuts together, we achieved a coherent flow through the eased double-sink vanity and up the wall. Honed finish was chosen over polished for its forgiving daily-use character in a busy master bath. The project was completed in coordination with a general contractor managing the broader renovation on an accelerated schedule.
