Book-matched Statuario marble feature wall in Delray Beach living room

The Challenge

The architect specified a floor-to-ceiling marble feature wall as the living room's focal point. The wall needed to span 10 feet vertically and 14 feet horizontally with a seamless book-matched butterfly pattern — requiring four precisely matched slabs installed without visible transitions.

Our Approach

We sourced four consecutive Statuario slabs from the same block, planned the butterfly layout in our CAD system, and fabricated each panel with tolerances tight enough for near-invisible seams. A reinforced mounting system was engineered to support the combined weight of the four slabs on the existing wall structure.

The Result

A living room feature wall that functions as permanent art. The book-matched Statuario creates a symmetrical butterfly pattern that draws the eye from the moment you enter the home. The architect featured it in their portfolio as one of their signature residential projects.

Project Details

Fabricated by our Boca Marble division, this Delray Beach project pushed beyond countertops into architectural stone work. The architect envisioned a living room dominated by a single dramatic marble wall — not a backsplash or accent, but a floor-to-ceiling material statement spanning nearly 140 square feet. Statuario marble was selected for its bold, sculptural veining that creates the most visually impactful book-match patterns of any marble variety. Four consecutive slabs were opened and mirrored to create a symmetrical butterfly pattern that reads like a natural Rorschach test. The engineering challenge was substantial — mounting over 2,000 pounds of marble on a residential wall required a custom steel mounting framework secured to the home's structural framing. Every seam was color-matched and polished to near-invisibility.
